Daring to Wear Colour: Why I’m Sewing a Red Dress

Image
Hello, At the moment, I’m sewing a red dress . This choice may seem simple, almost insignificant. Yet the further I progress with this project, the more I realise that colour is never neutral. It tells a story. It attracts attention, asserts a presence and creates a mood. In a world where many people tend to choose understated clothing in black, beige or grey, choosing a vivid colour becomes almost an act of reflection. There is also denim blue and white, which have become timeless classics in our wardrobes. But beyond these few colours, there is often very little choice left. It is as if our relationship with clothing has gradually narrowed to a palette that feels reassuring, but limited. I often observe that most of the clothes we wear today are discreet, easy to combine and reassuring. Black goes with everything, beige is considered elegant, and grey seems practical. These choices have their reasons, of course. But I often wonder: by constantly looking for simplicity, have we forgot...

Comfort Reimagined: Warmth, Softness, and Puff Sleeves

Image
This creation explores comfort in all its forms — not only through the fabric but also through the cut. The cotton, a natural and breathable material, gently embraces the body while allowing the skin to breathe freely. Its supple, lightweight texture creates a soothing sense of warmth, ideal for transitional seasons. The flared cut plays a key role in this pursuit of ease. It frees movement, follows the body without constraint, and offers a fluidity that evokes the lightness of air. Combined with the puff sleeves, it shapes a silhouette that is both soft and confident, where volume becomes a symbol of comfort and self-expression. The yellow nettle band, hand-dyed, brightens the piece with a vibrant touch. This artisanal gesture, born from the desire to find the perfect shade, gives the garment a unique and personal dimension. Each fiber, each hue tells a story of exploration, patience, and conscious creation. This piece embodies a balance between comfort, warmth, and freedom. It ...

A little update

The past few months have flown by so quickly, and time seems to have slipped through my fingers. Between daily responsibilities and new challenges, I haven’t been able to spend as many hours sewing as I would have liked. The fabrics are waiting patiently, ideas keep piling up, and there’s no shortage of projects in my mind. But if the needle has been resting a bit, it’s for a good reason. Behind the scenes, a big project is taking shape. It’s something that requires a lot of energy, thought, and preparation, but it’s very close to my heart. I’ve been working on it for a while now, and I can’t wait to finally share it. Just a little more patience… The reveal is coming soon, and I hope you’ll love it as much as I’ve loved creating it.

Beneath the dress: Nettle, a forgotten fiber reborn

Image
Beneath a light dress, a camisole and shorts sewn from nettle fabric . At first glance, a simple set of undergarments meant to soften transparency. But behind this creation lies a deeper reflection on material — on what we choose to wear against our skin, and on the relationship between our clothing and nature. Nettle, often seen as an invasive plant, hides remarkable textile qualities . Its fiber, used for centuries before being overshadowed by cotton and synthetic materials , is naturally strong, surprisingly soft, and able to regulate body temperature. Cool in summer, warm in winter, it breathes with the skin. Its cultivation requires no fertilizers , no pesticides , and no intensive irrigation — it grows where the soil allows, without depleting the land. Choosing nettle is an act of common sense. It reminds us that nature already provides everything we need — without excess, without artifice. In a world saturated with petroleum-based or intensively farmed fibers , nettle st...

An English Embroidered Dress: The Final Version Takes Shape

Image
This piece marks an important  stage in the making of my embroidered dress . After completing the test version, which helped me adjust the pattern and check the fit, I’m finally moving on to the final version. The fabric I chose is a  soft pink eyelet embroidery , delicate and full of light. I decided to use the  scalloped edge of the fabric as  the hem , which means there’s no need to sew an additional finish. This detail adds a refined touch and highlights the natural beauty of the textile. The dress has  no sleeves , giving it a light and summery look. The simple cut allows the embroidered pattern to stand out, playing beautifully  with light and transparency. In the photo, one of the main pieces of the dress can be seen, carefully cut to follow the embroidered design. Each line and scallop has been positioned precisely to create a harmonious result. This stage of assembly is always an exciting one — seeing the dress take  shape, feeling th...

Sewing My Winter Test Dress: Exploring the Fit, Fabric, and Finishing Touches

Image
This project began as a simple test dress intended to check the fit of a new pattern. The goal was to evaluate the pattern before cutting into the final fabric. However, as soon as I started sewing, I realized that the warmth and texture of the fabric made it perfect for winter. What was meant to be just a trial version quickly turned into a wearable garment that I will proudly keep in my wardrobe. 1. Choosing the Fabric and Preparing the Pattern For this test, I chose a medium-weight flannel —soft, warm, and easy to work with. It was not my final fabric choice for this design, but it proved to be ideal for a comfortable and cozy winter dress . After tracing the pattern, I cut out the main pieces, making sure to carefully mark all the notches and seam allowances . This step is essential to ensure accuracy when assembling the garment. 2. Assembling the Dress Construction began by assembling the bodice and the skirt. I used a serger to create clean finishes, giving the inside of the gar...

About me

Image
Welcome! Hello and welcome! I’m delighted to welcome you to my space dedicated to a more conscious and fulfilling approach to fashion and well-being. My journey, shaped by an early passion for beautiful clothing and health, has guided me toward a path where these two worlds meet and enrich one another. After completing a Health and Social Sciences diploma (SMS baccalaureate), I first explored the field of radiology before redirecting my studies toward becoming a trilingual assistant. It was during this time that my passion for sewing and design truly blossomed. However, I was quickly confronted with a disappointing reality: the decline in the quality of clothing available in stores — a trend that already raised important questions about what happens behind the scenes of the fashion industry. A major source of inspiration came from Greta Thunberg. Her commitment and the awareness she brought to environmental issues deeply impacted me and encouraged me to take action. This led to the cre...
